From what I observe of these definitions only one is remotely correct in my ideal and that is #4. The rest to me is seems like it is based off of popular perception of the current time. Take #1 for instance. What exactly is a reprehensible action or serious fault or offence? As a lame example: Currently the possession and use of marijuana in some states is considered a serious offence in which a quarter pound (4 ounces) could lead to a year or years in jail. Yet in other states it is accepted. This is a perfect example of what has gone on through out the ages where at one time something was considered evil or bad and then at another it was accepted and vice versa. You can see this pattern all throughout history. In the past it was customary for adults to lay with children, to have slaves, to have many wives, for children to be in armies when they were 12 years old, etc.. Back in those times that behavior was not considered bad and was common place. Now such things result in prison time. I am not stating that I accept this type of behavior. I am just showing how so called sins or good and evil flip sides throughout time. As for #2 someone's principles or standards may be a so called sin in themselves yet here it states that it is a sin to offend against such principles or standards. #3 is a completely corrupt definition. Transgression of the mayans or Incans divine law would be to not sacrifice yourself and to run away as an example. So called divine laws can be bad due to fanaticism. As for #4 it hits it on the dot. First off in my view a sin would be considered a moral issue in which it applies to all times and places regardless of religion. And in my view a sin can only be performed or acted out if the person is consciously and willingly morally unjust. Otherwise they are innocent. Now you may be wondering what sort of universal moral codes there are. The bible has them all and defines them into one simple sentence: Love your neighbor as you love yourself. One does not kill them self or steal from them self or harm them selves. At least one should not. Problem with this world is that the majority do not love themselves. Thus they reflect that lack of love on everyone else due to jealously or because they believe others are the result of their unhappiness. As the saying goes misery loves company. If you disagree with me then you do not pay attention to human behavior and what is on T. V. . A lot of what is on the T. V. deals with vanity and cure all pills that have a host of side effects and the majority of the programs are about violence and criminal activity. Even the comedy programs have a lot of yelling and venting in them and people just sit back and think this is normal. That it is funny to make fun of your family members and yell at them and play pranks on them. Or you have the kids thinking it is cool to go around with guns or to sit around playing first person shooter games all day desensitizing themselves.
Now this is my thoughts about sinning. I believe that people should learn from trial and error as innocent children and know that such sinning is necessary for them to grow and learn. But I also believe that to keep acting out the same sins is wrong especially when you know it is wrong. Most sins are obvious in that if you put yourself in the shoes of the one you are sinning against you would not want to be in them. We all know what we do not want to have happen to us so why do it to others. I also believe that T. V. has a way of embedding such sinful desires into the populace as well as agitation. If all you do is watch murder shows and action movies with nothing but shooting and explosions you will be programmed to accept such behavior in that you come back for more and more. If you are religious and call yourself a Christian or a non sinner then I do not see how such people can watch this type of T. V. I do not understand how the majority of the populace likes to watch people being shot, killed, tortured, sexually assaulted, stealing (robbing banks), blowing up buildings, serial killing people, etc. etc. Especially when the majority call themselves Christians and have the edacity to go to church. It's almost as if this government wants the populace to be corrupt. To be on a short fuse filled with aggravation against their fellow human beings with thoughts of last nights movie going through their head and how they would love to just lose control and go on a killing spree. And yes I am taking this a little to the extremes but I am sure I am not far off. A lot of the music in this country doesn't help out this problem either. As for a solution I believe that people need to figure out what their real values are and what they want to do with their time on Earth. You can spend it in front of a T. V. , or a computer or you can spend it with your family. At least with your family you will not be seeing enactments of people dying, screaming at one another, calling each other names, lying to one another, etc. etc. And if you do see that with your family then they are not real family. This whole world is one big family. That is what people need to realize. If immediate family is not a real family in that they do not really love you or accept you for who you are or are abusive then get away from them and be with real family such as with friends. Our time on Earth is not supposed to be spent pissed off at society and the world or hating (disliking) ourselves because we do not look like the so called perfect people we see on T. V. Or because we are different. Our time is supposed to be spent evolving ourselves, understanding ourselves, enjoying all of life. And one cannot spiritually evolve or understand themselves or enjoy life if their entire life is spent disliking themselves, always trying to change themselves to be like other people, always judging others and themselves. That is not a life but a personal Hell. Perhaps this is why some say sinners are going to Hell. Because they create their own personal Hells though at the same time their attitude effects others around them. Thus spreading such a Hell.
